(After 4 years abroad. Denmark in my opinion)
Evidence that im definitely from here:
1- I love candles and the indoors (=’hygge’ meaning cosiness), but then again you have to love it its too cold to go out! so I have been thinking about this and agree with myself 🙂 that this word and its entire content is ONLY and I mean ONLY made for us Danes to survive the wintery climate here)
2- I love Danis
3- I am crazy about christmas and decorations and the food
4- I stock Danish candy when Im abroad as if I will never taste a Danish lakrids ever again in my life!!
5- I stalk people speaking Danish in the London tube
6- I sunbathe every time I see a glimpse of the sun and even in winter time I enjoy wrapping myself up in blankets to sit outside in my grandparents’ garden just to sunbathe my face
7- I even started frequenting the Danish church near Regent’s Park just to buy myself aebleskiver, remoulade, aeblekagerasp and rodkal
8- I loveeee fish
9- I am convinced that this country was the best one to grow up in in the whole wide world (w.w.w.)…but only as a kid and teenager and then one should really move away to become themselves
Evidence that I have also left this place mentally:
1/ I dont listen to other people’s lives expressed in the trains or every fucking little sound that comes from a tiny abg of candy or other irrelevant acts
2/ I dont stare at people who are dressed differently, I am happy that Im not alone
3/ I dont care when they stare at me for all the reasons that they want
4/ I have self esteem
5/ I actually think that Denmark is too white (I actually miss seeing more black peeps around!!)
6/ I dont like the TV programmes here
7/ The coffee is to expensive (generally around 3,5-5 pounds!!) and the Indian and Turkish food here is crap so far
8/ The supermarkets have got more expensive and the food which they even dare to call organic almost always contains E-numbers?!!
9/ Its really too cold here and I can no longer adapt after 4 years of almost all year long springtimyy weather in London (yes! for me this is how I see it)
Evidence that Denmark is moving in the right direction:
1) There are now more people using the metro (in the beginning many people were scared to use it because of anxiety of Muslims bombing them)
2) There are more English speaking people (thank god) in and around the area stretching from Norreport Station towards Norrebro (really the only place to live in Denmark! otherwise only Aarhus and thats only because I think it has more art and is more openminded and less elitist!)
3) There are actually more places to go out in Cph and the streets are not as deserted anymore
4) Denmark has interestingly (and fortunately in some ways) become an events-country (otherwise it was really too boring before hand or maybe it was just me?!it might well be.)
Thats all for tonight I guess.sacmalamis olabilirim (this might be a lot of nonsense) from me again 🙂
