This is exactly how it is. Being Turkish means that one is obliged to become a news-addict that has lots of memory storage in order to be able to explain one massacre with an earlier one, as the left-wing people are always victimized in many different massacres throughout Turkish history.
This leads to a memory that becomes as fragmented as this young girl’s.And we know all the things that have happened as if we were memorizing the names of all the Danish kings by heart..All the years 1915 (this one I don’t know and I don’t want to research it even), 38,80,93, 2007, 2012…that are carved into our memories becomes mere numbers of things that “has already happened”. It’s the past tense already. Like the on-going hunger strikes.Soon there will be some names (a whole list actually) and the year 2012 will be memorized for this.and then we will live and watch other news, other injustices along with the newest fashion items and new celebrities and iPhones. And we will slowly forget and everything will get fragmented and we will slowly identify ourselves with this girl, who is asked by an invisible interviewer. (Maybe its our conscience, maybe it is the children of tomorrow, we are already being demanded answers that are way back in time and in our fading memories.)
